Joel Gott 2006 Sauvignon Blanc $11 An absolutely
delicious, friendly and approachable Sauvignon Blanc that is one of the best values we have ever encountered in this varietal.
Bright, crisp, refreshing acidity combines with notes of pineapple and grapefruit on the nose. The grassiness that many object
to in some California Sauvignon Blancs is subtle, delicious, and perfectly integrated. This one is a great value for the money.
Order up a case or two to enjoy on the porch for this summer’s warm evenings, or as a complement to your first course Caesar
salad at a dinner party. Let your friends know about it—they will thank you for it. Order

Elizabeth Spencer Wines 2007 Sauvignon Blanc, Mendocino County (Certified Organic) $20 When you visit the Elizabeth Spencer tasting room
(located in Napa Valley, across from the Rutherford Grill in Rutherford) you need to ask them to pour their amazing Sauvignon
Blanc. That's because they have no problem selling out of this gem just through word of mouth, so they won't pour it unless
you ask. This is one of the most exquisitely balanced Sauv Blancs from California. Aromas of grapefruit, and tastes of citrus
and peach with subtle touchs of fresh cut grass. But the hallmark of this wine is its elegant balance. This is not an overdone
grapefruit bomb, nor is it overloaded with grass. Crisp, refreshing, beautifully integrated, and absolutely delicious. At
$20 it is a terrific bargain. Order

Chance Creek 2005 Sauvignon Blanc $13 From Northern California, made from 100% organically grown grapes. Aromas of green apples, bright refreshing
acidity, young, precocious, full of life. Delicious apple finish. No grassy notes in this one at all, so if you avoid
Sauvignon Blancs because you don't like the grassy characteristics, this one is definitely worth a try. This is, simply
put, a fun summer wine. A bit of New Zealand style, but distinctively Californian. Order

Gary
Farrell Vineyards 2006 Sauvignon Blanc $25 Intense and sophisticated aromas
of grapefruit, pineapple, pear, and subordinated, subtle grassy notes. Rich on the palate, with flavors in harmony with the
bouquet. A big, forward Sauvignon Blanc. Refreshing, no oak component is evident despite aging in 20% new French oak for added
richness. Overall, a gorgeous Sauvignon Blanc in which aromas and rich fruit trump its sparkling acidity. Order

Chateau de Sancerre 2005 Sancerre $25 You've tried California
and New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs? How about one from France?
Sancerre is a village in the Loire Valley,
and its white wines are Sauv Blanc. Pretty floral nose upon opening; once it breathes other aromas of baked apple and peaches
emerge. On the palate, apricots, peaches, and apple flavors. The distinctive character of this wine is
its combination of a round smoothness on the palate that tends toward richness, while still retaining a lively freshness
as well. All elements evoke a sense of well-integrated harmony. Longer finish than you typically find
on a Sauvignon Blanc. Order direct from Wine.com

Forefathers 2005 Marlborough
Sauvignon Blanc $14 One expects a refreshing, crisp, brightly acidic grapefruit to dominate a New Zealand Sauv
Blanc. This one is indeed refreshing and crisp, but a surprisingly unique and delicious blend of peaches and zest of orange
dominate, with grapefruit more recessed as a subordinate component. A medium-bodied creamy mid-palate with a sparkle of palate-cleansing
acidity on the finish. Delightfully enticing, and a superb value. A versatile food wine that is also great on its own to enjoy
on the porch on a warm summer night. Order
direct from BevMo.
